Speed up your internet by optimizing Mozilla FireFox

If you are on a broadband connection, few tweaks to your browser settings can improve your internet speed (page loading speed) considerably.

Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

  1. network.http.pipelining
  2. network.http.proxy.pipelining
  3. network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true“. Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true” Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 36. This means it will make 36 requests at once.

Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0″. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives. If you’re using a broadband connection you’ll load pages 2-25 times faster now.

  1. I tried this and it worked my internet is way faster but my computer hangs up probly once per day now. I have an Intel I7 930 on a P6T AUS motherboard (win 7 / 64). The computer is awesome but I’m stuck with AT&T 300kb/s max. This trick seemed to solve my problem big time but I can’t let it keep freezing up (teh whole computer freezes so I can’t even force stop it with the task manager) is there a different number less than 36 I should try?
