Hi guys. For those guys having trouble in setting up gmail in n72/70. These steps will make your gmail work in your mobile
1. Go to messaging, use left softkey and open setting.
2. Open email setting. Open mailboxes. Find “new mailbox” in options.
3. Enter these and leave those that are not mentioned:
mailbox name: anything u want
access point: gprs setting that u use.
Email address: xyz@gmail.com
outgoing server: smtp.gmail.com
username: xyz@gmail.com
use your full email address as your username
password: your password
incoming mail server: imap.gmail.com
mailbox type: IMAP4
security (ports): On(993/995)
And you are done. Now go back to messaging and open gmail that you just created. You can now send and receive email in your n70/72.
You may receive a message saying that “this site sent an untrusted certificate”. Just ignore it. If you are having problems setting up gmail, hotmail, yahoo in your n70/72 you can write to me at
gauravsinghfzd@yahoo.co.in
Bye. Good luck

Dennis
works great thanks
Hello again Satish,
Just to add to my previous message.
The exact response to my attempt to connect with Gmail is
“server not found”. Could this mean I neglected to add an important detail in your instructions for an N73 music edition.
Dennis
Hello Dennis,
I guess its the server of your isp, gmail is never busy.
Are you sure you mobile network operator provides internet??
If yes did you activate it?
Are you able to browse other sites on your mobile??
Hello,
I got all my settings as per your instruction.
Everything seems okay…the only trouble is I
get a response that says either “server is busy”
or “server not available”. Does this mean the
server of my mobile internet service provider
or the server of Gmail?
Dennis
Could you please let me know how to remove the gmail account from my N73 as I do not use it to access my email anymore. There seems to be plenty on how to configure POP3 and IMAP accounts, but nothing on how to remove them if you no longer need them.
Hope someone can answer me.
Thanks in advance
EEEK!
I have the same problem as you. Want to sell my phone and the N73 does not let me remove the Yahoo or Gmail mailboxes from my messages folder!!!

I have a Nokia N73 mobile. I tried to configure my gmail id in the

@Silky and muthu
You can not access gmail through airtel live, you need to subscribe to mobile office to access gmail on mobile. To active mobile office send “internet on” 121. You will be charged 15rs per 24 hours.
@Suhail
These settings will work with almost any phone

hello to all. my n70 is weird. the mailbox setup does not allow ssl or tls ports to be manually changed to any port number. it has 3 options for ports security… off, opt1 (143/110), opt2(993/995)
Hi,
It works perfectly, thanks so much for putting this post together! Only question is: it also retrieves emails I send: is there a way of stopping this?
Thanks!

Hi!
I post the below following content with an intention that newbies would be benefited.
I own N73 ME with Airtel network.
Finally IMAP settings worked for me .i changed some of the configuration given in the Gmail IMAP settings for S60 devices. <>
From Gmail questions and answers, i found IMAP4 is more efficient than POP3 settings especially for mobile devices.
(Kindly check Gmail answers for more detail)

The Set-by-step configuration that i did for my mobile..
Symbian S60
To configure IMAP for your Symbian S60 device, just follow these steps:
Kindly note:
Sending/receiving email works only by enabling Mobile office and not with airtel live!.
If have Airtel live! settings already in your mobile, the send sms “GPRS”(obviously without quotes) to 56789 for Mobile Office activation.
From your PC.
1. Enable IMAP in your Gmail settings.
Then from your Mobile device.
2. Select ‘Messaging’ > ‘Options’ > ‘Settings’ > ‘E-mail’ > ‘Mailboxes.’
3. If you have never set up email on your phone before, select ‘Yes’ to define a new mailbox. If you already have other mailboxes, select ‘Options’ and then ‘New mailbox.’
4. Select ‘Start’ to begin the setup wizard.
5. Select ‘IMAP4′ and then ‘Next.’
6. Enter your Gmail username (including ‘@gmail.com’) as the email address and select ‘Next.’
7. Enter ‘imap.gmail.com’ as the incoming mail server and select ‘Next.’
8. Enter ‘smtp.gmail.com’ as the outgoing mail server and select ‘Next.’
9. Select the appropriate access point and then ‘Next.’
10. Enter a descriptive name for the email account mailbox name.
11. Once your mailbox is set up, select it from the email mailbox settings screen.
12. Select ‘Connection settings’ > ‘Incoming e-mail.’
13. Enter your Gmail username (including ‘@gmail.com’) and password.
14. Select ‘SSL/TLS’ for your security (ports) and define your port as ’993.’
15. Select ‘Back.’
16. Select ‘Outgoing e-mail.’
17. Enter your Gmail username (including ‘@gmail.com’) and password.
[18]. Select ‘SSL/TLS’ for your security (ports) and define your port as ’465.’ —
19. Select ‘Back’ and change any other settings according to your preferences. (OPTIONAL)
20. Check the recommended client settings, and adjust your client’s settings as needed.(OPTIONAL)
Good luck!
I thank for the geniushackers.com posts and Mr.Satish for his great support.

Pradeep

Hi,
I am also facing the same problem as Pradeep. Emails are receiving perfectly in my N73′s mailbox. I am using Gmail’s POP3/SMTP.
Whenever i try to send an email more than 100kb, the email just hangs out after 10 or 15 %. Very small email are going perfectly.
I called customer care many times but they are unable to solve the issue.
I am facing this problem for last 2 weeks.
Can anybody help me?
Worked great for my gmail account on the N95 8GB
I followed the gmail instructions for my phone but outgoing mail failed. It was setup as IMAP before and now it works perfectly with pop3!!!
woohooo
Hi Praddep,
Thanks a lot for the detailed procedure.
I really appreciate your contribution to this post.
I hope this solves pawan’s problem and also the problems of all S60 operating system users.
Once again thank you for the procedure
Regards
Satish
The thrill and satisfaction of sharing provides the motivation
I guess your outgoing port might be busy with other applications using internet on your mobile, or it may be blocked by some virus. Do a virus scan.
Also try using user defined port.
I’m not sure if this will help you.
Try this, mean while i will try to figure out your problem.
In case if you already solved the problem, post how you solved your problem here.
– regards
Pradeep
Hi Satish!
ya i enabled POP3 in Gmail setting! The problem is i’m able to recieve mails, but not able to send email.
The setting for Outgoing email which i done for my N73 ME with Airtel Mobile office is:
username with entire email address with password
smtp.gmail.com
when ssl/tls is enabled … nothing happens, my email are still in outbox
….and also i checked with startTLS, for this i get “General: Feature not supported”
port:587
Also i get same error when i do settings with IMAP instead of POP3.
Really i’m also puzzled… some where there must a silly mistake i might have doing with outgoing email setting… Kindly post me the exact setting for the same..
please do the needful…
Hi!
I followed as it said! I own N73 ME and use Airtel Mobile office plan.. and whenever i try to send email (using Gmail A/C) i get an error “General: Feature not supported”.. what is it? please help me.
Hi Pradeep
did you enable POP3 access in your gmail account??
I also own a N73 ME and I dint have any problems with it, I followed the above procedure and i was successful in sending mails through my cell phone.
Please go thorough the procedure once again and let me know if you still have any problem.
-Satish Gandham
@Debabrata Das
You are using airtel live, if you are using airtel live then you will not be able to use gmail.
First activate internet on your mobile.
SMS “INTERNET ON” to 121, you will be charged 15rs per day.
save the settings they send you, and set your acess point as mobile office.
Now follow the instructions given above and your gmail should be working now.
GoodLuck
