I always wanted to try Linux, and taste the pride in using this open source operating system. I tried Fedora and Elive before but had a tough time finding the drivers for my laptop, so i had to give up. Yesterday my friend Keshav showed me few videos of Ubuntu . They were too cool, it was hard to resist my temptation to try it, so I immediately requested for a free cd and downloaded the beta release of Ubuntu. Then I took a empty cd from my friend and burnt the image on it.
The installation was not a smooth journey for me, I installed it for 5 times till now
, First time it was installed up to 70% and then halted saying there was some error reading the cd. I cleaned the cd and tried it again and it worked this time
. I restarted the system configured my network, and started downloading the video codes and the updates. In the process of installing the updates it asked for a restart and after the restart my internet connection wasn’t working. So i installed it again to check if there was any problem in the installation but the same problem showed up 4 times
.
Finally I gave up considering it as a bug and hoping that it will be fixed in the stable release. I’m eagerly waiting for the stable release as it’s the only operating system which is having all the drivers for my lappy.

I’m having 2GB ram and i kept 3gb for swap, i think 1gb would have been sufficient as i have enough ram.
