Both distros have a Gnome & KDE version not to mention the others like LXDE, XFCE, Openbox, etc.If you wanted to compare Gnome to KDE then it should have been titled that way. Itr made some good points but most of them had nothing to do with PCLOS & Ubuntu.

This could have been a good comparision if it would have compared apples to apples. Something that communicates that Ubuntu has Gnome installed by default, but can be replaced with full KDE support. Gnome is a very small piece of what Ubuntu is, so saying that Ubuntu is based on it is misleading. That all it takes to write a new flavor is a list of preferred packages and some non-ubuntu-specific configuration demonstrates that (hence Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Edubuntu, (\w+ubuntu)). However, your argument continues to have weight because while it is a small piece, it is (ostensibly) what the common user will be interacting with. Although, still, I feel that it is nevertheless important to note that with a quick installation of the Kubuntu package, you have KDE installed configured with an entire package suite of programs beginning with the letter K to replace the ones installed by default. I've used both KDE and Gnome, and I will admit that when running on a suitably powerful machine, KDE, when not crashing, takes the cake in my book. That situation, for me, has not come up too frequently. As for Gnome... I don't bother anymore. Generally I do a server install of Ubuntu, chose no server packages, and install what I need when I need it. I've blabbed on long enough.

Looking at both sides, I think better wording would satisfy both groups. >> My opinions:: Ubuntu:
Ubuntu is a nice really nice distro that makes changes each day... but it is not a rolling release... each new realease will follow a dvd.. also the codecs and stuff is a matter or taste...Deb and RPM are two great packages... its a matter of taste too:: PCLOS:
I personally prefer this one... but for noobies this is just great if with the basis... if you want more you should learn more about linux... Different from ubuntu which has better repositories... but ubuntu has the fames "don't mix with me or I'm going to crash" way... PCLOS doesn't...PCLOS has one kind of problem... it has a year release cycle... ubuntu has a 6 months one... but this is not a problem... PCLOS is way better tested and way faster...>>> The matter of usage...
PCLOS has KDE: yes,
Ubuntu has GNOME: yes...
KDE is usually slower then GNOME: yes...But even though PCLOS is way faster then Ubuntu, also try MiniMe edition its even faster because it is stripped down...Also... ubuntu's community is bigger then PCLOS, but go on an IRC of PCLOS and one of Ubuntu's... see the issues that ubuntu's talk and that PCLOS talk... also ubuntu is now a big community because once it was a PCLOS... one distro doesn't get over with another... ubuntu is a community for developing a commercial version for canonical as fedora is for Red Hat Enterprise Linux>>> ::: Just my opinions...

Why PCLOS… why Ubuntu… we shall pass this throught lots of days…<br
