Here are few steps to reduce the startup time of windwos XP

  1. Go to your bios and set Hard disk at the top in boot priority list.
  2. Remove unnecessary files and short cuts from desktop, store them elsewhere.
  3. Remove un necessary programs from start up
  4. Goto start>run and type in msconfig
    This will launch the system configuration utility and remove unnecessary programs from startup.

4.Use Microsoft bootvis to optimize your boot time.
Install bootvis , and launch the utility. Click on trace in the menu, and select optimize system.

    You can check the performance of boot vis by logging the driver delays before and after optimizing the system. To find the driver delays click on nextboot+driver delays. You will get a graph showing the process and the time at which they are launched.
