Apple sucks big time
Apple is generally known for their innovation and for designing user-friendly products ( at least they claim). They innovate complex features and forget some simple, common and must have features. I bought a iPod touch 3 months back. I was too lazy to share its review, but now im sick of their over hyped products and theirs fucking updates for which they are charge. They charge for the features which are too obvious to anyone, and give it a colour of innovation.
My friend bought a first generation iPod touch. He was slapped by apple on both the cheeks for purchasing apple product. They added new features to second generation iPod touch and reduced its price by 70$, they should have at least given a hint of what’s coming up. They are not some secret service or a defense organization. Give some value to your customers, why did my friend pay you extra 70+10 dollars??

Apple sucks
- Their products are over hyped.
- Overpriced.
- There’s no search feature in iPod touch, you don’t expect me to scroll through 30 gb of songs to find a song I’m looking for. They introduced this feature in 3.0, for which I have to pay 10 USD. Congratulations for this great innovative idea of adding a search function, listening music on iPod is more fun now. FYI, my Nokia n70 had this feature long long back.Symbian operating knew this feature since it early days, may be you missed it innovating complex things.
- Now you can cut and paste on your iPod touch and iPhone. That’s a great feature, you guys really rock. yaaaaay apple rocks.
- There is no microphone, fm radio and Bluetooth on my iPod.
- You cannot send mms, cannot capture video on your iPhone, no cut and paste until the recent update. What are you people doing? What are you innovating?
- They invented the “in ear” headphones which are priced at 79 USD. Well i think you people should check what other people in the market are doing, you get these inear headphones on most models of Sony Ericsson phones at no extra cost.
- Honestly, audio quality is a lot better on Sony Ericsson mobile phone with in ear earphones than a iPod.
- I cannot use my iPod touch as a usb drive. Even my n70 can be put in mass storage mode.
- I cannot edit playlists are save playlists on my iPod touch except for the one “on the go” playlist.
- They annoy me with their reminders on software updates, and force me to dlaod them
- I cannot install the update on my ipod unless i update my itunes. I have the version jut previous to the latest one.
- There is a pdf reader in iPod, but i cannot load my pdfs into it, WTF.
- I cannot associate my iTunes account with more than five pcs, WTF. I format my pc very frequently. According to them if i format my pc more than 5 times, I should get a new iTunes account and buy all the apps again. I don’t have gold mines dude. Why don’t you just give a number to my ipod and associate with my iTunes account? It’s not common that people have a more than 5 ipods.
- You cannot copy your music from your iPod to another pc, same is the case if your pc crashes. You should either lose your music collection on the ipodTouch are purchase a third-party software to rip the music.
- You cannot mute the songs from your earphone. If someone is talking to you then, you have to pull out the ipodtouch from your pocket, press the home button, then the music icon and then pause.
There still a lot more to say and the list would be endless if start about all the other apple products. If you have anything to say please feel to drop in, i will append them to the above list.
I even quit the idea of buying a mac book after i bought the iPod Touch, I would rather go for a vaio, dell or Toshiba laptop with windows 7.
Mac is a museum with beautiful walls, you don’t get to touch anything. Your hands are tied, so it’s the same every day. But a PC is a workshop with lot of tools, and you have a complete control over your pc.
Listen Mac lovers, you claim that macs are stable. They are stable because you cannot try anything new, you do what it commands you to do. Your hands are tied if you use an apple product.
You know, a soap-bubble can last for years if left undisturbed??

Dude most of this stuff is fixed in 3.0 Im on it right now the iPod touch 3.0 is great it’s like having a mini computer and you can have SMS mms USB drive and a lot of things mentioned in the app store the Internet browser is one of the best I’ve seen you just need to triple click click and put pause to hear others or my choice take one off and even the headphones are sleek cool looking and I left them in the washing mashing and they still worked my friend dropped them in soda and they still worked I can sign in to YouTube rate comment favorites use igoolgle set the webpages to a mobile vesion in google see goolge earth street view search for whatever stuff inthe system yadayadayada apple is really different and thinks outside of the box you just gotta give it a chance of course it’s not gonna have all the stuff that the iPhone has they don’t want the competition and iPod mics would make them fatter competion and on other iPods pointless also the speakers would but my iPod touch 2g has a mike it’s awewesome especially jailbroken(hacked)Wich is easy.B-)
By the way even though I had mine hacked the guys at apple still agreed to fix my home button that was completely my fault they couldn’t turn it on so they gave me a break and helped me out

PC’s crash a lot huh? Then how come I have used a computer my entire life basically and have NEVER had a virus or had it crash? Huh? How is that? Maybe if you know what the fuck you are doing and don’t get viruses your PC won’t crash. i agree completely. i used an iPhone 3g for a week, it really made me apprecaite my nokia 6230, the things you take for granted are not present in the iphone. generally i believe that people who use apple products ar sheep.
I wholeheartedly agree. Apple products are overrated and underperforming. They must have some marketing magic, because their products are not all they are hyped up to be and do not even measure up to the contenders. My ipod touch lasted for 3 months. In addition to the list above,
Ipod Touch does not have a micro-sd slot. This feature allows you to have as much memory space as you want so you can store many more songs on your mp3 player. My 4 gb sandisk from a few years ago had this.
The plug that they sell which allows classic Ipods to play music in the cars does not fit into the slot for ipod touches. Seriously, do you have to milk your products for so much more than they are worth?
And not to mention ITunes itself and its hardships and glitches.

Because out of all the other mp3 players out, an Ipod touch is the best. Just imagine. There is no other mp3 player that offers all these new futures. And hey, if you want to view PDFs, etc. just do it on a pc. An mp3 player is mainly built for songs and videos.

Ipod touch sucks compared to a bunch of stuff. Smartq v5, archos 5, sony walkman x series. Smartq v5 and archos 5 kill the ipod touch in functionality. Sony walkman x series kills it in sound qualtiy and still has decent functionality
ps the archos and smartq v5 also have better sound quality but they don’t “kill” ipod touch’s. Ipod constantly ranks near the very bottom in sound quality. Sansa, creative zen and pretty much every other company in the world kick their sound quality(if it can be called “quality”) right out the water
SCAM ALERT!!! We bought an iPod Touch today and it did not come with the latest 3.0 software. Apple then forces you to pay $10 to buy the upgraded software. What a scam by the lovely Apple “geniuses”.

ok, hahaha this article makes me laugh. where do I start. I agree, the ipod is overhyped, and quite cheap in quality(now my 2nd generation is pretty solid, and nice, delightfully simple). I agree the charging to update the ipod is a lowblow tactic, I was livid when it said update!, give us 10 bucks. I agree the ipod/iphone lacks elementary features. I agree with most of this, except the attack on mac os. I have a dual 2.4 ghz xeon tower, 2 gb of ram, and a 512 mb radeon running xp. M powermac g4 dual(the more chips the merrier in my opinion…..until the room gets to 1000 degrees) 1 ghz with 1.5 gb ram, and a radeon 64mb osx tiger runs way faster, only locked up when MY(the boot drive) crappy maxtor hardrive shot craps on me. The xp machine locks up all the time, crashes, and usually I have to reinstall windoze every year. the powermac I’ve only upgraded. Now running knoppix the xeon tower screams along, windows just is too buggy, and slow. OSX core is the rock solid UNIX(Ran a SGI octane IRIX machine 24 hours a day 7 days a week, tried to wreck the os tried tried tried,……it won, kept chugging along) osx is the same way, unless you screw around in the terminal messing with commands you dont know about, it takes a beating and keeps on singing. Ipod, and iphone tho….yeah needs some work, and get rid of foxconn. my ipod touch would lock up on me alot. I switched to a cowon.

I was sitting next to someone who had a mac yesterday and they asked me how my task bars looked like apple and I was like. “um First of all this doesn’t look like apple, apple copied this and 2nd its because all mac osx is, is linux with price tags all over it and everything in it. I run ubuntu. This laptop isnt great but it runs just as good as a mac with ubuntu on it not to mention everything is FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

i agree that apple usually does overprice and overhype many technologies that have already been out on other platforms, but it seems to me that you wrote that review without doing much research into your problems. There are easy solutions to many of them..a couple of your points….
3. update 3.0 costs 10 bucks from the apple store, but a simple google search would show that updates can easily be downloaded from other sites and installed onto your ipod.
4. You aren’t even expressing what you want here. Do you think the cut and paste feature should have been applied sooner? If you jailbroke your ipod, which most people recommend, you could have gotten this much earlier.
5. It’s a valid point, but Apple can’t let the ipod touch take too many features of the iphone, or else nobody will have any incentive to get the more expensive phone. Thats just logic.
6. Again, you seem to not know what jailbreaking is. all of these features were available via private developers much earlier.
7. That’s just apple. the earphone prices don’t qualify for why touches suck, though it is a valid point for why apple sucks.

13. There is no pdf reader that comes bundled with the ipod. If you got it from the app store, then thats between you and the app developer.
14. All you need to do is deactivate your account (a one click ordeal) before you reformat, and the pc no longer counts toward the limit.
15. Thats not an excuse. With internet storage, usb drives, and cd’s, you have plenty of other ways to back up.
16. Not all earphones can mute the music. There are several cheap earphones that can. I suggest you look into one.
Your friends problem is just ridiculous. New technology comes out all the time, and at cheaper prices too. Did he expect to have the best device around forever? Perhaps apple should hand over its development plan for the next 10 years so that you can look at it and decide what you want? If i buy a laptop, and a year later a better one is released, can i rightfully say that i was cheated? Of course they added new features and lowered the price of the 2nd gen one, what did you think they would do? make it worse? They don’t need to tell people that their next model will be better. Anyone with a brain could figure that out. Obviously your friend is in dire need of one.
Seems to me like you haven’t tried finding any solutions to the problem; instead you just threw in the towel at your first hurdle. The touch might be obsolete at first, but a good jailbreak can make it 10 times better. You should have known that before writing this.
Why should he have to jailbreak to get all those features? Why can’t Apple just put them in in the first place. Not everyone wants to jailbreak their ipod/iphone. If this was a microsoft device or something and you needed to hack that to get basic features, everyone would be screaming bloody murder at microsoft, instead no one gives a shit when apple does it because they have you all brainwashed.

I’ve seen my friend’s MacBook hanging, and I felt it was a pitty he can’t even remove the battery. So, there’s no other choice than getting the luck of working it OR waiting till the battery dies.
And having a colleague using Mac’s version of MS Excel (I don’t even care to know its name) was sooo irritating and frustrating. During work, he keeps on asking me how do I did a formula or even the simple conditional formatting on my MS Excel 2007.
And about the iPhone, I don’t wonder at all why some westerners are so amazed with it. While the iPhone offers silly games and apps, popping emails and all those overhyped functions, people in the East particularly in Japan and Korea are using their phones as virtual credit cards, real-time GPS, compact TV, and can even have a CCTV-like function.

Prior to my purchase of the iPod Touch last week, I had used a 1G nano in my car for years. I could just leave it hooked up to the audio jack in my console and “drive” the ipod using its own controls – it would turn itself off when I turned the car off, and I would simply have to hit “play” again when I restarted the car, and I was good to go. In addition to all of the complaints above, the iPod Touch is basically UNUSABLE in my car. It will not shut off when the car is turned off, and worse, you must physically disconnect/reconnect the power lead cord from the iPod Touch unit after cranking your car for the iPod to even recognize that it is attached to the car. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Why, IN THE HELL would a company not give you the ability to control power management features, particularly on a device that is INTENDED to be used as a mobile music player…
Someone said it best earlier. Apple over-engineers the complex pie-in-the-sky features, while foresaking (or completely f’ing up) the features that a normal user needs most often.
It’s back to back to the store for this POS tomorrow. BEWARE the iPod Touch. It is perhaps the finest example yet of the Apple Marketing machine at work – Microsoft’s marketing may suck, but their products DO work.
