Samsung and the Galaxy S Success Story
Samsung revealed their “future beyond Smartphone” range as an attempt to beat the growing domination of two giants in Smartphone market – The BlackBerry and Apple iPhone.
Samsung Galaxy S ran on an Android 2.1 (Éclair) which was quite popular at that time because of the brand name associated with it ‘Google’ and the great success of Motorola Milestone (Droid).
Both Apple and Android have been able to strive this far in the Smartphone world because of their ever-increasing application count, same goes with BlackBerry phones and their BlackBerry services.
It was hardly a matter of choice back then, if you had Rs. 30K to spend there was no better phone than Samsung Galaxy S, other than that Samsung had put in a mind-blowing ARM Cortex A8 1GHz processor in the device which made it even more attractive.
The ARM Cortex A8 1GHz processor was not just a gimmick, it actually increased handset’s performance. The navigation became more sensitive (processor plays an equally important role) because it had very high-quality capacitive touchscreen.
Samsung Galaxy S Smartphone sold most in North America region followed by Europe where it bagged 2.5 million sales.
Key Specs of Samsung Galaxy S Smartphone
- Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen
- TouchWiz 3.0 UI with Swype typing
- 8GB/16GB internal memory with microSD expansion slot
- 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0
- ARM Cortex A8 1GHz processor
Although it faced severe competition from preconceived popularity of iPhone 4 which was launched nearly at the same time of Samsung Galaxy S, it still managed to become on the most effective smartphones of all times.
Samsung has some huge plans for Samsung Galaxy Series Smartphone which includes their latest Samsung Galaxy S2, a smartphone with 2GHz processor and much more…
Before we get more details on this issue, we’d have to wait for MWC 2011 where every query of yours would be answered. It would be great to see better multitasking and reduced screen size on Samsung Galaxy S Smartphone, 4” is quite huge, 3.5-inches would be just perfect.
